My research area is primarily on early modern Britain and Europe, with a particular focus on the period of the Thirty Years’ War (1618-1648). After studying for my undergraduate and Masters’ degrees at the University of Birmingham, I completed my doctorate at the University of Oxford (Lincoln College) in 2019. My thesis examined exiled royal and noble dynasties during the Thirty Years’ War, focusing on the experiences of the dispossessed Electors of the Palatinate between 1632-1648.

I have acted as a visiting lecturer in early modern British and European history at Bishop Grosseteste University from 2020 and at the University of Buckingham from 2021. In February 2022 I will be taking up a Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship at the University of Warwick to research the experience of refugees during the Thirty Years’ War (1618-1648).
